Of the equity crowdfunding rounds closed on UK platforms in 2019, the proportion that had returned any cash to investors by 2026 was in the low single digits, and the proportion that had failed outright was above 30 per cent. That is not an argument against the asset class. It is the base rate, and any pitch that does not start from it is not being straight with you.

Get Crowd Magnet analyses crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending in the UK for investors and for the founders who raise on the platforms. Every article leads with the number that matters, whether a platform’s realised default rate, the effective annual fee on a lending account, or the post-money valuation implied by a pitch, and shows the full working in a table. It is willing to conclude that a platform or a round does not stack up.

Coverage includes platform fee structures on both sides, the Enterprise Investment Scheme and Seed EIS in detail and what the relief does and does not rescue, secondary market liquidity, P2P default and recovery data by platform, the Innovative Finance ISA, and the regulatory position of each platform type. A platform default rate tracker is kept as a standing resource.

Get Crowd Magnet is edited by Nick Ambrose, who has analysed early-stage and alternative finance for many years. It is an independent UK publication. Content is general information and analysis, not a recommendation to invest in any platform, company or loan. Capital is at risk in every product discussed here.
